Can I crush garlic with my garlic press and put it in gel capsules to use as an antibiotic?
I’m on day three of a sore throat. I have a few swollen glands on the front of my neck and up until today my symptoms were accompanied with sinus problems (I might have used an entire box of Kleenex!). I have no fever, chills, or aches. But, my throat is REALLY red and it hurts really bad to swallow. I finally talked myself out of having swine flu (oh, the panic…) and I don’t think I have strep because it seems the sore throat was related to my sinus stuff (my ears still kinda hurt and I’m still blowing my nose a bit). I don’t have mucus on my tonsils or anything. However, I’m not familiar with sore throats and I’m freaked out bc it hurts so bad to swallow. I don’t typically go to the dr. and use herbs for most things. I’ve been taking echinacia & goldenseal in liquid form and been gargling salt water.
Okay question: I can’t get myself to chew raw garlic but, I know it’s important to release the juices to get the benefits. SOOOO….I have some clear gel capsules I use for cayenne pepper when I do my master cleanse (way better than drinking it in the lemon water, btw) and was wondering if I could crush the garlic and put it in the capsules and get the same effect! Anyone know about using garlic this way? I haven’t been able to find anything online about crushing it and capsuling it….only chewing it or stringing it on thread around my neck.
Why does it loose it’s effectiveness that way? How is this different than chewing it? I have contacted my herbalist and she said tested (muscle testing) I was I was getting over it. However, I also have anxiety disorder and this whole throat things freaks me out … like I’m going to become unable to drink or suffocate myself. I am interested in watermelon frost…I’d never heard of that before. I’m more familiar with Nature’s Sunshine brand products. Would infrared sauna work? My reflexologist have one and had been wanting to use it.
Oh, how long is this supposed to last? It’s been three days and it hasn’t gotten any better!
Whew….I dunno if I can hang with raw onion! That’s pretty intense. Yikes. I think my face would swell..my eyes almost water shut just from cutting an onion. Oh, and I don’t press the garlic and put it in the capsules and let them sit….I use them immediately after being crushed. I think that might make a difference on their effectiveness..as far as I’m not letting the garlic dry out.
I did read Dr. Weil suggests cutting the cloves into big chunks and swallowing them as pills…but, I was sure you had to realease the juice….?

Can you build a tolerance to foods that cause gas?
I started to eat a clove of raw garlic a day, because of it’s health benefits. Unfortunately the garlic makes me have legendary farts. If I keep eating it raw will I build a tolerance to it and fart less or will I always fart? When I cook it, I do not have this problem. I am basically clearing out my house right now!!! It’s terrible.

Anyone eat raw garlic bulbs and feel they have benefit from that?
I read in "The Food Pharmacy" about a doctor who ate a couple of raw garlic bulbs evety day since 1973 and hasn’t suffered a cold since. This book I have was written in 1988. Anyone who does: just wndering what are your reasons for doing so. Or perhaps you just incorporate garlic into your diet in other ways.

How much garlic should be taken to benefit from antibiotic properties?
I’ve been researching using all sorts of natural remedies. I know garlic can be used for a number of things and its benefits are innumerable. What I cannot find is "dosages".
I normally eat a clove of raw garlic a day, and when I’m sick I’ll add a few more. But I think I might be developing an abscess above a tooth, and I’d like to try to battle it with natural remedies before running off to the dentist. (Especially since dental care costs so much!)
Does anyone know how much garlic should be taken in an instance like this, for battling infections? I’m not afraid of eating bunches of raw garlic, I’m just not even sure how much would be too much… if there is such a thing. ![]()
Don’t bother saying "Go to the dentist!" unless you plan on loaning me a few hundred dollars to pay for it.
Don’t leave an answer unless you have valuable information relating to my question.
Thanks!

Have you ever taken garlic for your health?
freeze dried garlic?
Can you get the same benefits from taking garlic pills that you can by comsuming raw garlic?
will garlic help your health if you stick it in your ears?
My mother-in-law goes around smelling of raw garlic all the time because she believes that raw garlic cloves inserted in her ears will aid her health some way. The smell is awful and we can’t seem to get her to stop this disgusting practice. Additionally, she walks around chewing this stuff all the time. Any proof to this inane idea of hers?
