            Garlic oil may help release protective compounds for the heart during a heart attack, during cardiac surgery, or for congestive heart failure. The active compound is diallyl trisulfide, which can deliver hydrogen sulfide gas to the heart. In studies in mice when a coronary artery is tied off there is 61% less damage when diallyl trisulfide is administered. It lowers free radical levels in the mitochondria by turning down mitochondrial function and lowering free radical production. Garlic has many other compound such as allicin, which helps reduce blood pressure, has an anticoagulant effect, and may also lower cholesterol and blood sugar levels. There are three “gasotransmitters,” nitric oxide, hydrogen sulfide, and carbon dioxide, that affect blood flow in large and small arteries. The key substance in hydrogen sulfide is sulfur. There are three amino acids high in sulfur: cysteine, methionine, and taurine. Foods high in these substances include eggs, garlic, and many cruciferous veggies, as well as fruits such as blueberries, cheries and grapes.

                          I would like to know, what things other than antioxidants should I look for in food?

                          I am going to start going by the food guide, I also will not drink tap, or bottled water – I will boil my own; I will not drink milk, and will eat plenty of antioxidants. Are there any other things that I should know about food and drinks that would be beneficial to my health?

                            How long can you take herbs for homeopathy/holistic use?

                            I have heard certain herbs like Echinacea should only be taken a few months before cold/flu season starts and not everyday all year-round, or otherwise, they are not as effective, as you build up some sort of immunity to its effectiveness.

                            Is this true for most herbs? Or are there other herbs that can be taken all the time – like Ginseng, Garlic, etc. as a daily supplement for overall health or Milk Thistle/Dandelion to cleanse/detox the liver?

                            While I am familiar with all of the benefits of herbs, and know about shelf-life, expiration dates, know that the FDA does not approve certain herbs, etc., I am still unclear about long-term use/effects. Can someone please clarify any known long-term use adverse affects of any known herbs?

                              Is it possible to be allergic to Garlic?

                              Before all it’s lovers start, I know the health benefits…..my question is, is it possible to be allergic to Garlic?
                              I can’t stand the smell or taste and it seems to make me angry and stressed out.
                              I wish I loved the awful stuff, it’s everywhere, often airborne on the back of curry…another problem that may be one and the same?

                              OK, so I heard antioxidants keep you healthy and young. So I’ve started drinking more Green Tea, Pomegranate, and Blueberry juice. Stuff is not cheap, but if it’s good for my health, I’ll stay with it.

I have little or no doubt that when you take these helpful pills, you actually are consuming what they say on the label, but does your body actually absorb it?
