Are these supplements safe for teenagers?
Today my parents bought a bunch of "herbal supplements" that supposedly improve your health. The supplements are
Garlic Capsules
Q-10
Vitamin B complex
Fish oil
I have no idea why my parents are suddenly trying to be healthy, but I’m not quite sure they have any idea what there doing. I’m a little bit afraid of all these "herbal supplements" that everyone is obsessed with now adays with all this scientology garbage going around.
I know that these supplements are relatively safe, but I’m wondering if they have any real health benefits for a 15 year old girl. (The only health benefit I found for garlic is fending of vampires, and come on! Who want to fend off vampires???)

Cholesterol levels? Doctors/health care professionals please.?
I had some disturbing news from my doctor. My total cholesterol level was 233. (HDL = 73, LDL = 141) Triglycerides 116. Glucose 80.
I was told by my doctor to eat foods low in saturated fats, but I already eat in a very healthy way. I am only 25, 5’2", and 105 lbs! I also exercise 3 times per week.
Should I be concerned now, or just have it tested in 6 mo and go from there? The reason I am concerned is that I don’t see what lifestyle changes I could possibly make. Thanks!
Also – it runs in my family. Both my parents are very thin but have high cholesterol (medicated), but didn’t become medicated for it until their 40s.
I already eat fish 2-3 times per week, take a fish oil supplement, and eat oatmeal 3-4 days a week for breakfast. The other days I eat special K or raisin bran.
I exercise 4-5 times per week. I am a triathlete and a martial arts (Wushu) instructor/master.

Is garlic or fish oil an overall better supplement to take?
I was told to consider taking garlic instead of fish oil as a regular supplement. I was originally interested in taking fish oil due to the benefits for skin, hair, and a few other things. I’ve read a bit about garlic. But, I haven’t read up too extensively as of yet. Does garlic do anything that fish oil does not, or vice versa? Does it all depend on what I’m looking for? Or, would it be fine to just take both regularly?

My wart won't go away! Please help me!?
Well about… let me see 1..2..4 yes 4 years ago I got a wart on the side of my hand that is near my palm. Now I know many people have had persistent warts but believe me when I say mine is the most persistent of all! I have had it frozen 9 times at the doctors three of the times the doctor took a scalpel and cut it down to the skin and froze it. I turned black and started to fall off but then it grew back. I’ve tried duct tape, garlic, nail polish, apple cider vinegar (which did some good progress but mine was so persist ant that it ended up coming back it would probably work on normal people but the people who say it doesn’t hurt are probably in the Marines) I’ve tried at home wart removals even after it was almost gone. I’ve tried tea tree oil I’ve tried the stuff you get the stores and nothing works!!! I mean NOTHING! I’ve even tried this stuff a doctor gave me that is for some types of skin cancer! I’m so frustrated! I’ve heard dish oil is supposed to work and so is tea. Should I bother? Don’t tell me to have the doctors cut it out because they won’t do it. It’s too close to the nerves and I could loose movement in my fingers. But please! I’m desperate! My little sister won’t even hold my hand anymore. ![]()
Oh and I’ve tried peroxide!
when I said dish oil I had meant fish oil. Sorry about that

Large red blood cells?
What additional tests should I have done if a second blood test confirms that my red blood cells are larger than normal?
I don’t eat much meat but I do eat salmon and trout so I don’t see how I can have a Vitamin B12 deficiency. I also take several different vitamins and supplements a day: multi-vitamin, vitamin C, garlic, fish oil, calcium, magnesium, and acidophilus.
I don’t drink or smoke.
What other tests should a doctor do to figure out why my red blood cells are this way?
Could I just have larger "normal" cells than other people?
However, I have had the CBC done several times in the last 5 years and no doctor ever flagged this as an issue.
Right now, I am just having to get the CBC test repeated to see if it produces the same abnormal result.
Plus, I am currently out of the United States in an area with limited medical care. Would this condition be harmful if I can’t get to the bottom of it before I get back in 3 months?
I read it can possibly relate to leukemia or thyroid disease or even cancer so I want to figure out what further tests are really necessary.
The only other CBC results I have had flagged as "high" before, but only slightly elevated, was my bilyrubin level.

Does anyone know some good tips for boosting my immune system?
I catch EVERY BUG that goes around, and seem to catch them more frequently if I have a drink of alcohol. What can I do? I have not been taking any vitamins, ie: garlic, vitamin C, fish oil…etc.
Please help – I cannot keep getting sick. If cutting out alcohol is the best bet, I am thrilled to do it. Any help is appreciated!

I had taken 1.2 g of flaxseed oil with 1g of fish oil yesterday and after about 30 minutes I started to feel lightheaded and little nausious. I heard excess fish oil can cause easy bruising and bleeding but didnt have those symptoms. I had breif episodes of pvc’s throughout the night cause of the oils but felt ok.

Can I bring vitamins into Japan via the airport going through customs?
I am wondering if the Japanese customs people would not allow me to bring in my vitamins, including a 20 day supply of multi-vitamin, garlic capsule, yogurt bacteria tablet, calcium, vitamin C, magnesium, and fish oil.
I know they do not allow Sudafed like other countries do.
Will I have to throw them away entering Japan at the airport??
Do you think they would be okay in a ziplock bag?
